I can speak from experience about this problem that many people face when it comes to food. I find myself after meals still craving for more or when something that looks delicous is put infront of me I just want to eat it. Like the other day I finished with eating at e hall and then not even an hour later my friend brings over cup cakes. What do I do? Eat them of course. My excuse was that I didnt want to make her feel bad by turning down her food even though I know I shouldnt of eaten them.
This is a big problem when I comes to dieting and nutrition people know when they have hit capacity and reached their limits but they keep on eating no matter how bad it makes them feel. I like them experience this problem at times when the food looks so good you cant help but go for another plate. Although it may seem like a small thing at the time most of the snacks that we enjoy after meals are sweets. Like others I have a sweet tooth and crave that after dinner cookie. It used to be so bad for me to the point where I couldn't sleep well at night if I didnt have my sugar fix after dinner. It has gotten much better since that point in my life but I still find myself craving sugar like many others on this campus and around the country.
This sugar need is a huge problem and is the reason why people cannot step away from the sweets. For the most part people can put down the ice cream after one bowl but others take it to extreme and in some cases eat a whole pint of ice cream in one sitting. This is one the reasons why there is such an overweight percentage in America people do not know when to walk away and have to much of a good thing. So the next time you find yourself in this position think of something more healthy to meet that sugar fix. Don't grab a cookie or cake eat some fruit and remember that it is for a good cause.
I can relate to eating and then craving more after (especially at ehall). Did you consider the idea that the after dinner sugar craving could be because of routine? Many people make it a habit so that it becomes routine to eat dessert following dinner. So maybe a big factor of that craving could be trying to break that habit first.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean! I actually am experiencing it right now. I just ate lunch and I am still hungry. I would love a cookie! But breaking the habit sounds easier than it actually is. How can you make yourself stop overeating and craving sweets?
ReplyDeleteI know exactly how you feel and what you mean, especially when it comes to Ehall. When food is right in front of your face it is hard to say no even if you are super full. A new method I use is if I come home after the dining halls I either chew a piece of gum or brush my teeth in order to stop craving food or to stop my fix of sweets. Another thing you can do is set a time limit where you can no longer eat food for the night. This really helps and is a lot healthier for you as well.
ReplyDeleteIm taking G Kin this semester and we are talking about Eating and diets in class. They made a great point that I never had thought of to reduce this "extra" eating. My teacher suggested eating foods such as whole grains to fill you up more than white bread. I always thought whole grain was healthier, which it is, but I didn't know that it actually fills you up better than white bread. Just a thought when you go into dukes and get a sandwich.
